“The ultimate goal is to actually utilize that data to then come up with tailor-made therapies for that disease,” Patel said.

Clients include research hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, biotech companies, professors and universities worldwide.“

A lot of these services have been – and should be – commoditized, in which case you don’t want everybody doing this on their own in their own institution,” said Robert Williams, director of the Center for Integrative and Translational Genomics with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and a member of the scientific advisory board for Genome Explorations.
